    White Pineau The quality of the 1995 harvest warranted that it be put aside as a future vintage, after a year in new barrels the opportunity arose for a transfer to Sauternes barrels. These barrels, purchased from a prestigious Chateau, had previously contained a 1995 Sauterne. Once in place the Beaulon 1995 was left to age peacefully... and forgotten.     Alexandre Marnier-Lapostolle's father was a wine and spirit merchant specialising in the production of liquors issued of fruits. It is nearly by chance that they tried to blend liquor with orange cognac from the Cognac region. They liked it and the rest is history. Alexandre settled in the 17th-century Chateau de Bourg, near Cognac, in order to be closer to supply for his new liquor. At a time when Oranges were regarded a luxury fruit , he decided to import Citrus Bigaradia oranges. He macerated the orange peels in neutral alcohol before distillation.
