At the beginning of the 19th century, certain houses began to ship some special cognacs in cask to British connoisseurs. They found that these cognacs matured differently in the humid English cellars. One of these companies was H INE, who continues the practice to this day of sending some selected casks to deep cellars in Bristol, a famous port in the wine trade since the Middle Ages. These are known as ‘Early Landed’ Cognacs.
For any given vintage, the climate of the year and the storage conditions influence the taste and the ageing process of the cognac, making each vintage unique.
1983 Early Landed is a particularly rich and well-balanced vintage.
Tasting notes : Round and well-balanced. Fig, crystallised fruit, gingerbread, honey.
