Cognac Raymond Ragnaud - le cognac .com
Several generations of wine growers.

The Raymond Ragnaud family has owned a vineyard in the Grande Champagne area ever since 1860: Chez Cormier, and La Magdeleine in Criteuil. The later one is exclusively composed of the grapes varieties Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche, recognized as the best in the region.

In 1920, Paul Ragnaud settled at the Château of Ambleville, located at the heart of Grande Champagne, prime growing area that provides the finest and most delicate eaux-de-vie. There are those with the richest bouquet and that keep improving with age.

After his death in 1941, his son Raymond Ragnaud took over ; he farmed the vineyard and put on the market some eaux-de-vie inherited from Paul, rare and wonderful Cognacs slowly aged in oak wooden casks.

In 1963, after Raymond Ragnaud's death, his wife and two children: Françoise Bricq and Jean-Marie Ragnaud expanded the vineyard. It covers today 44 hectares.

For the past 15 years, faithful to her roots, Françoise has carefully watched over the vineyard. Working as a team with her distillator, she participates to the various stages of her Cognac making as well as to the double distillation in a copper alembic, or pot-still.. The first distillation gives what is known as the 'brouillis', dstillated once more to produce the 'Bonne Chauffe'. She keeps only the heart of this second distillation, which is approximately 70° in order to obtain a clear and pure eau-de-vie that will mature in shadowed warehouses to later become : 'Cognac'.
