Cognac is expansive... no !
Did you know that ten liters of wine are needed to produce one liter of eau-de-vie of cognac ! Then, when ageing, the loss of volume is about 2% every year, its 'the share of the angels', the evaporation.
Far beyond the reglementation, most Houses blend their cognacs with 10, 20, 30 years old eaux-de-vie, and more.
Today's wine growers are producing the eaux-de-vie that their children and grand-children will sell !
